Derek, and his wife Becky, started Restore PT with a vision to do things differently. They saw the need for physical therapy services to be provided in a more peaceful, nurturing environment that allowed people the space in which to do the work of healing their body, mind, and spirit.

Derek S. Metzler, MPT

Derek is a physical therapist licensed in Virginia. His well-rounded professional training, life experiences, and compassionate nature enable him to provide a therapeutic environment that facilitates your return to an active, healthy, and vital lifestyle. Derek’s philosophy is to continually strive for the best patient outcomes.

Training & Specialties:

  • Masters of Physical Therapy, University of Pittsburgh, 2000
  • Extensive course work at the Jone’s Institute for Fascial Counterstrain
  • Expert level MFR therapist and assistant instructor in John F. Barnes form of Myofascial Release (MFR™)
  • 10-month post-graduate course on the Australian/Maitland model, and influences from NAIOMT, University of Virginia
  • Direct Access Certification
  • Coursework at the Institute of Physical Art

Derek has developed a unique approach combining his professional knowledge, his intuition, and his passion for helping people to achieve their fullest potential.

Personally, he has completed 5 marathons, several half-marathons. He loves to get out on his mountain bike on the Buttermilk Trail and most recently a road bike for the Capital Trail.

Rebecca L. Metzler, RN

Becky is a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Virginia since 1992. Her extensive experience in the hospital setting, community health, wellness, and nurse consulting enables her to be a comprehensive resource to clients seeking to manage their current health status.

Dustin

Dustin S. Toth, LPTA, CMT

Dustin is a LPTA, Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant. He brings with him a long background in athletic performance (soccer, football, volleyball) that assists him with understanding the bodies, drives, and lifestyles of active people. He is interested in restoring people to an active, less painful lifestyle. He also maintains a CMT degree (Certified Massage Therapist) and continues to hone his manual therapy skills set.

Dustin earned a seat in ECPI’s PTA program. While attending, he received the honor by his peers of being class president 2015-17. He was actively involved in some of his favorite charities, Special Olympics, YMCA, Habitat for Humanity and the local Richmond Soup Kitchen. Clinically, he has a particular interest to work with people who are experiencing limitations. He possesses a great attitude and has a desire to continue his clinical education and increase his knowledge.
